The goal of this training is to help people understand the transition planning process and how to use it to answer the big question that faces all students with disabilities when they are about to leave high school– “What happens next?”
- This session will cover:
- The legal rights of students under IDEA
- Translating these rights into meaningful transition planning
- Students as active, self-determined participants in the process
- The roles of parents, outside agencies, and school personnel
- An introduction to person-centered planning and student-led IEPs
